The Atlantic Ten Conference (known as the A-10) is a conference participating in the NCAA's Division I, with member institutions in Massachusetts, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1975 as the Eastern Collegiate Basketball League, with men's basketball as its only sponsored sport. In 1977, the league changed its name to the Eastern Athletic Association (better known as the Eastern Eight), and added sponsorship of other sports. Four years later, the conference was again renamed, this time taking on the name it now bears.
